Confined Space - All Risks
Course Title: CONFINED SPACE - ALL RISKS
Duration: 5 Days
Delivery: Practical and Theory
TQT: 35 Hrs
Scope: Low-, Medium- and High-Risk Entries & Entry Control
Confined Spaces, All Risks is CSRTA's comprehensive five-day programme designed to develop entry operatives and entry controllers across the full spectrum of confined space hazards.
This course brings together all risk levels, low, medium, and high, into one integrated training package, providing learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical capability required to work safely, effectively, and in line with the:
- Confined Spaces Regulations 1997
- L101 Approved Code of Practice.
Learners will develop a strong operational competence in atmospheric testing, entry procedures, control measures, and rescue requirements.
A major focus is placed on the correct selection, operation, and industry-standard deployment of respiratory protective equipment, including:
- Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (EEBA)
- Drager PP
- Drager CF
- Scott ELSA
- Chemical Oxygen Re-breathers
- MSA SSR 30/ 100
- MSA Savox
- Airline Breathing Apparatus
- VTN Apollo
- Tita XL
- Titan XXXL
- Modulair Trolly Set
All equipment is taught using real-world manufacturers' instructions, with extensive hands on application to reinforce safe use, limitations, inspection regimes, and maintenance responsibilities.
The course also incorporates controlled scenarios involving:
- Safe lifting and lowering of tools, equipment, and personnel.
- Correct use of tripods, winches, fall-arrest devices, and retrieval systems.
- Hazard recognition and mitigation across a range of confined space environments.
- Emergency procedures, communications, and team dynamics.
This programme is primarily practical, reflecting industry expectations and the realities of operational confined space work. Learners will use complete operational equipment throughout, applying safe entry techniques under realistic conditions, supported by continuous assessment and instructor-led feedback.
The course is fully underpinned by the L101 Approved Code of Practice and mapped against relevant National Occupational Standards (EUSCS01–08) to ensure consistency, compliance, and strong competence outcomes.
It is suitable for sectors including water utilities, construction, civil engineering, energy, manufacturing, transport, and any industry where confined space entry and control form part of operational responsibilities.
