CSRTA recognises that some organisations and operators may require focused development in a specific technical or medical discipline rather than completing the full VRTO2 programme. To support this flexibility, each of the two VRTO2 single-day modules may be completed independently, with CSRTA awarding a formal specialist endorsement to acknowledge the operator's enhanced capability.
Learners who complete only one of the VRTO2 modules will receive an endorsed certification that reflects targeted specialist competence built upon the VRTO1 foundation:
- ·VRTO1 + Rope Systems Endorsement – awarded on completion of the Rope Systems module, confirming the operator's advanced skills in rigging, mechanical advantage systems, powered rope systems, stretcher handling, and the safe management of technical rescue movements.
- VRTO1 + Medic Endorsement – awarded on completion of the Confined Space Medic module, recognising enhanced capability in DRCABCDE assessments, trauma management, oxygen therapy, low-visibility CPR/AED use, infection control, psychological support, and prolonged field care within confined space environments.
Each endorsement is represented by a distinctive CSRTA badge, providing clear visual identification of the operator's specialist skill set. These badges allow employers, team leaders, and incident managers to quickly verify the operator's certified strengths during planning, task allocation, or emergency deployment.
This modular approach enables operators to develop mission-specific expertise aligned with their operational role, immediate workplace requirements, or long-term professional goals, while maintaining the recognised safety-critical competence already established through VRTO1.
Operators may return at any time to complete the remaining VRTO2 module to achieve the full VRTO2 programme.
